Nature Photography Week Day 2

Nature Photography Week Day 2
White pasque flower blooms with a background of pine needles. The dense hairs of the flower stems are back lit and seem to glow.

Pasque flower seen on the trail early one spring. I love how the fuzzy hairs make it seem to glow!

Female Norther flicker poking her head out of a hole in a tree.

This female Northern Flicker is checking out a hole excavated in a crab apple tree. Every spring flickers covet this hole. And every spring they eventually nest someplace else — this site is about four feet off the ground and five feet away from a busy sidewalk. There’s just too much traffic. But I was grateful for the opportunity to photograph her.
