Went to the Suberb Owl!

Went to the Suberb Owl!
A Great Horned Owl sits in a tree looking at the viewer. The Owl has his head tipped, and so is sharing a resting bitch face.

This is papa Great Horned Owl looking at us with great disdain from his perch. Evidently the Great Horned Owl nest is very well hidden this year, so we are unlikely to see it until the eggs hatch. I hate waiting, but it looks like I have no choice in this matter.

Hope you get to the Superb Owl too!

  1. What a terrific image of the soon to be proud Papa. Your guy is sure a handsome fella.

I heard an owl one night not long after I moved in but haven’t since heard a peep and haven’t found any nests along the Ralston Creek Trail yet. I keep looking, hoping I’ll spot something…it usually coincides with a squirrel spotting so we both know how that ended. πŸ˜‰

    1. I hope you get to find a nest. I personally am almost useless at doing so unless I have somebody pointing up at the tree saying “It’s right there!”

      1. I know what you mean. Unless a nest fell on top of my head, it’s not likely that I’ll ever see one. I can hear various birds, but seeing an actual next…nope.

  2. Whoa, that’s an excellent photo! Is this in the same place you shared with me last spring?

  3. It is the same place! Evidently there have been owls down there for decades. In fact, I learned that there are nesting pairs of owls above and below the section that we walked. So fun!

  4. It is! They really love it down in there. In fact, I learned that there are other nesting owls at either end of the section that we walked.
