It’s been a discouraging couple of years when you look at global climate change. The news seems to just keep getting worse, and nothing seems to be getting done.
That said, the United States reached a milepost that nearly slipped by me without any fanfare at all.

Fanfare is called for: On April 8, 2022, wind energy production was second only to natural gas production in the United States, surpassing coal and nuclear. (CNN: US Wind Energy Sets Record) Europe, especially Germany are doing even better. In 2020, Germany got 24% of its energy from wind. Wind energy is now economically competitive with fossil fuels. And more wind farms are planned, both in the United States, and around the world.
We need to do much much more. And we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that renewable energy comes with its own set of hazards — nothing is free.
But for the moment, just enjoy reaching this one milestone.
We can do this, if we stay focused.
